Our passion for Hawaii ignited when we discovered this gem in spring 2019, which boasts everything we cherish about island life—radiant sunshine, stunning oceanfront vistas, and a peaceful atmosphere along a quiet road that leads to charming beach parks, just 4 km from the heart of Hilo. Unlike many destinations on the Big Island, enjoy year-round safe swimming in a sheltered bay, protected by a natural lava ridge. You'll find the perfect balance between seclusion and accessibility to outdoor markets, restaurants, and other essential services.

About the Space

This one-bedroom (700 ft) condo features an open-plan layout in a cozy, retro-style building dating from the 70s. Meticulously remodeled, it includes a sliding solid wood door separating the bedroom from the living area for added privacy. Enjoy a kitchen designed for cooking enthusiasts, a dining area perfect for gatherings, and a living space that opens up to breathtaking ocean views.

The spacious lanai runs the length of the apartment and accommodates a dining table for four, loungers for relaxation, and a quality Weber grill for barbecuing fresh catches from the local docks.

The kitchen is well-equipped for any culinary adventure, featuring a gas stove, microwave, family-sized refrigerator with ice maker, and dishwasher. You’ll find ample cookware, utensils, and dishes to comfortably serve eight. The dining area is furnished with a teak table surrounded by six lightweight Emeco aluminum chairs, ensuring comfort in the tropical climate.

Sunlight floods the living room through floor-to-ceiling windows, offering spectacular ocean views. The modern couch converts into a double, extra-long bed, providing versatile sleeping arrangements for guests. Additionally, enjoy entertainment with a flat-screen television boasting a variety of channels.

The bathroom, accessible via the bedroom, has two sections—a convenient outer space with a sink and a full-sized washer/dryer, plus an inner room featuring a toilet and walk-in shower. This design allows multiple people to use the facilities without interruption.

Your bedroom is spacious enough for a queen bed, bedside tables, and an exercise area. Enjoy hypo-allergenic bedding and brand-new mattresses for restful nights. Built-in cupboards offer ample storage for your belongings, and you'll even find snorkel gear ready for your underwater adventures. An oversized window ensures refreshing breezes flow through the room.
